Brief history lesson
The beauty, climate and the nature of the Vis island were recognized by the ancients Greeks in 4th century B.C., and the island of Vis had 16 000 citizens while it was a Greek colony.
Vis or Issa (how the Greeks used to call it) is the first and the oldest colony in the Adriatic sea. For a long time Vis was under the rule of Venice, and after that, it was under the control of the Austrians.
For such a small island in the Adriatic, it had quite a fascinating history, involving the British who won a sea battle against the French in the 19th century and multiple other nations such as Italy. All of them eyed the island of Vis for its beauty and nature.
